October: Functional
This month was pretty slow for our company being that we've been trying to get all of our necessary requirements completed such as our website and business plan. I was able to complete the 4 P's of marketing section, as well as contribute to the pricing of all the packages. It took a lot of focus and brainstorming in order to come up with the components for each package, especially because we want to be able to apply to our target market. I also came up with the Luau and Graduation Party Package that will be introduced in either the third or fourth quarter. Also, at the NIU Conference, I was able to converse with other companies and purchase from them once I got back to school in order to increase our sales in the future. I would tell them that I would purchase their product if they purchased mine in return.
November: Leadership
This month I had the privilege to go to our first trade show at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and it was a very eye-opening experience. As a company we were not as prepared as we needed to be which meant all six of us had to scramble while making our company look good at the same time. At the booth set up, we didn't have all the right equipment to help keep up our props we brought. I went to other booths and convinced Legacy into letting us borrow their tape and scissors. Without those our booth would have been very unappealing meaning we wouldn't have made as many sales as we did. During the actual trade show, at the beginning I noticed that we all were in the booth at one time and nobody was running and talking to other people. I made sure that three of us would always be in the booth at a time and the other three would be conversing and connecting with other companies.
January: Professional
With the new position changes that were made within our company after break, I believe everyone is working together much better, especially for the Great Lakes Trade Show. Within the marketing department, I assisted Aaron and Dylan with designing our posts on social media such as the image below. Preparation for the trade show, however, took up a majority of everyone's time. In the marketing department, we were told to come up with ways to promote our company once we're set up in a booth. With my experience from our last trade show in Tennessee, I know that our advertising struggled tremendously. So for this show, I knew that we had to design ways for people to visit our booth. I suggested bags and video games to be set up at our booth since both games can appeal to a larger target market. I believe that this was a very productive month for our company and I know that my work will improve our success from our last trade show. In our next couple months as a company, I'll keep working with Aaron in design in order to promote ourselves more and make more sales to other companies as well.
February: Core Technology Skills
This month everyone has been preparing for the trade show that will be held at Neuqua. Throughout the last few weeks I have been thinking of ways to market ourselves effectively while we are at the trade show, and even before. Below are some of the ideas that I have come up with while using Google Docs to help organize them. I prefer to use Google over any Microsoft software because it's easier to use and navigate. Not only have I used Google Docs this month, but I've also had spreadsheets shared with me by the Zach and the chiefs to fill out. Although Google software is not hard to use, I believe I am strong when it comes to using it for assignments. For me, I find the layout of Docs to be really easy and when something needs to be shared or turned in, I can accomplish it very quick. As for the days leading up to the trade show, I will continue to use Google Docs and Spreadsheets in order to organize and prepare ourselves adequately for our next and final trade show.
